How Do I Approach My Boyfriend About My Depression & Anxiety

A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭
Durban, ZA

We have been dating for 8 months, well going on 8 months next week Monday
He's told me that he has anxiety and I told him that it doesn't effect the way I see him. The main reason I am a bit unsure how to approach the situation is because of my previous relationship. I was made to feel like a failure and to be extremely weak, and his words felt like they ripped straight through me
I don't take medication due to the fact that it makes me feel worse and causes my eczema to flare up.
I haven't… read more

Who Is So Insecure That Any Shift Of Someone's Tone, You Feel Like They Are Mad At You And Hate You?

A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭
Gauteng, South Africa

It happens a lot to me. I am a very insecure person, and I'm not perfect, so especially at work, if I hear my boss' tone changing just a little, I feel like I did something wrong. It escalates my anxiety and I get so tensed up I feel like I wanna die!

Even personal, if a friend of mine just talks less than usual or just sounds not in a good mood, I always feel like the fault lies with me.

Anyone feel like that? How do you manage it?

Do You All Know You Can Counter Your Depression With EXERCISE?

A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭
Bryan, TX

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), getting regular physical activity can make you less likely to develop depression. Exercising three to five times weekly for 30 to 60 minutes can provide mental health benefits because exercise is a good way to get "out of your head" and focus on moment-to-moment sensations, such as your breathing and movements?

What Do You Do To Make Sure You Get The Most Out Of Your Therapy And Psychiatry Appointments?

A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭
Iowa City, IA

What questions do you make sure you ask? How do you stay focused and not go on unnecessary tangents? Do you email your therapist a few days before your appointment to mention what you you want to talk about? Or do you bring in a list with you?

It feels like lately my appointments with my therapist have been just recapping my week and not really getting much progress. It seems like 80% of the appointment is me venting and explaining my week and then I'm more frustrated with my issues than… read more
