I know of preschool aged children being prescribed risperdal, is this ever okay?

I don't think giving a child such strong medication is good. My sister-in-law was told to give her child ritilan, instead she went with changing his diet, ended up he didn't need the ritilan at all. Alot of behavior problems are linked to fast food and processed food. Diet is so important.
