Anyone Know Any Natural Remedies For Depression?

A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm currently taking 25 mg of Zoloft every day. It's a pretty low dose, and I've been told it's basically the equivalent of a natural remedy. So I was thinking I could just replace it with an actual natural remedy. I'm not exactly sure what I could use though. Do you guys have any recommendations?

First of all, talk to your doctor before you try anything deviant from what you are doing. Concerning natural remedies, there are millions, most of which probably do not work for the average person, but many of which may work! A few examples: St. John's Wort, 5-HTP, L-Theanine, B vitamin complex tablets, Vitamin D (if affected by Seasonal Affective Disorder), and various other outlets like exercise can be good natural remedies. I have had a positive experience with exercise, St. John's Wort, B vitamins, and Vitamin D. The others I have either seen work through articles (I am a former nutrition major in college) or through acquaintances who have tried it.

whatever you do please make sure that you ask your doctor or pharmacist before you start taking anything other than what you have been prescribed, even if it is a "natural remedy" like st johns wart as they can have adverse effects when taken in conjunction with some prescribed medications !!

I am not sure. I have been suffering with twitching most of my life. I was on so many different meds that didn't help. I twitch in my face, fingers, and toes. Last year I started to sniff uncontrollably and then would go into a panic attack. I recently changed my primary care doctor and told him about my snuffing. He told me that it actually OCD that is causing that twitching. I said I was really scared because one night I went into such a panic attack because I didn't think I would ever be able to stop sniffing and if I had a gun, I would have shot myself. It was bad. My doctor put me on a low dose of Zoloft and low dose of Klonopin and my sniffing has not stopped but it does not get bad enough to put me in a panic attack. I swear by it. He told me it was very safe to take Zoloft.
