Lethargy and loss of interest in doing anything are symptoms of depression - so you aren't alone! I used to sometimes just sit on the couch and stare at nothing for hours on end.

Yes, my house looks like a bomb hit and I am embarrassed if anyone calls which is very rare, even having a shower is huge effort. It is called "leaden paralysis " and is probably a sign depression not responding to treatment although could be side effect from medication.

Yup ... I do. And you're right ... it is not lazy. It's like a big pause button. For example, I see something needs to be done ... and used to just get right at it ... but now I look and stare. So yes ... I don't know if it is lacking motivation though ... its just part of the brain needing help and healing.

Yes, when I am in a depressive episode I feel so exhausted that I can't move. It's horrible!
Nothing interests me, not even TV. It's very hard to explain to other people who do not suffer with depression.
I agree with Kelrose. Baby steps and hanging in there and knowing it will go away eventually is all I can do.
