Not really sure, but I do periodically have short term memory problems. I take meds for both bipolar and anxiety. My doctor did change my anxiety med, because she said it could cause memory loss. I suggest you check with or doctor or better yet your pharmacist (I know mine is excellent at not only knowing side effects but also if their are any drug interactions between what meds you are taking)

Yes, memory loss is a part of depression. We who have depression suffer from 'cognitive dysfunction'. (Cognitive function definition from the free dictionary - an intellectual process by which one becomes aware of, perceives, or comprehends ideas. It involves all aspects of perception, thinking, reasoning, and remembering.) Dysfunction means that we have problems with all of those - we have difficulty concentrating and paying attention; have loss of short-term memory/working memory, autobiographical memory (I notice that my childhood memories are getting spottier and spottier), verbal episodic memory (forget what we are talking about in the middle of a sentence, forget words we're about to say as we talk - your mind blanks and the word is on the tip of your tongue but you can't remember what it is). We also have loss of executive function. (definition: the cognitive process that encompasses an individual's ability to organize thoughts and activities, prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and make decisions.) A good website that talks about Cognitive Dysfunction is https://www.omh.ny.gov/omhweb/cogdys_manual/CogD - it's for friends and family of those with psychiatric disorders but it's a good read and you'll read the first part and say "Oh my gosh that's why I'm like I am!" I highly recommend it!

Yes it can be. Poor memory and concentration can both be symptoms of depression. When I tried to return to my job after being on disability, my mood was fine but my poor memory sunk me (that and an unreasonable need for sleep.) Now I've been on LTD for 8 years for my depression.

It's okay to have memory problems. It's a common part of depression.
