Tommy its not your fault and you have certainly NOT let anyone down i wouldn't take him straight to cat or a hospital. talk to your doc and see what he says. has your son had any counselling? its not an answer to his depression but it does teach you techniques that may help. sometimes it helps talking to strangers. also it sometimes helps a little to right things down so maybe a journal something private for him? this is gonna sound like a really dumb and question, im sorry for asking, but have you spoke to him to see where it stems from? you and your son have done nothing wrong just got to have patient with each other. dont push him tho just let him know (which you prob already have)that your always there for him and when hes ready to talk you will be ready to listen and offer help if he WANTS it.

Tommy if ur concerned ur son is going to harm himself u need to ring ur local hospital & they will send out a CAT (Crisis Assessment Team). If ur confident he is not going to harm himself make a apt ASAP wif ur DOC & take him there & have a open & transparent discussion of the fears u have 4 him & hopefully he will then open up. Is he on meds? If not maybe a chat with the doc will help. It's a hard road, but love from his dad and just being there for him will help more than you realise.
