Should I Talk To My Psychiatrist About Going On Ssi?

A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am 43 years old and i have virtually nothing. Every job I've had I can't seem to stay. I get frustrated with other workers, my anxiety is so I that I get angry and even hurt over the tiny issues. I've tried many different careers. I was a nursing assistant, i couldn't deal with the nurses attitudes and laziness of others. Even talking about this now is almost sending me into an anxiety attack. I decided to try working as an office assistant. In both jobs I tried, i became anxious irritable… read more

I did apply for disability and after almost four years was finally granted that. It's a long, ridiculous, frustrating process. I only got through it with support from my sister. Don't give up, though.

Somewhere I read Can't means won't. You can open your moth and say what you know needs to be said to you therapist. You can physically do that and it sound like it's something YOU think you need to say. That said, It sounds like you have insight as to why you have had trouble at work. I had lots of anxiety and depression (OCD) in my life. I found that FOCUSiNG on the task at hand helped a lot. I learned to meditate and that reduced anxiety and Elon me to focus. Thank God helpful people came into my life at the "right" times and I was able to keep working. I think must be determined to take care of your child and yourself, no matter what. Don't indulge emotions at work. Take care of the family is first priority for work. Can act out feelings somewhere else if necessary. Aside from all that every person has gifts and talents (make you feel good and somehow right when using them) You are still young - realize your gift and talents that are yours to use and give to the rest of use. Know it's not easy- saying a prayer for you

I'm.trying to get on SSDI myself. For mental and physical problems. There is no reason not to tell your psychiatrist. He/she may have something of value to tell you. I would also recommend speaking with a lawyer even if it's just for an opinion. I've been trying for over 3 yrs now. So try not to get discouraged.

Do you have any relaxing time. When you can just practice deep breathing and letting go of your anger.
Acknowledge your pain then just imagine it floating away.
Try doing a little each day.
I hope it helps you. This really helped me
