Does Lithium Always Work?

A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭
Wales, UK

I was put on Lithium at the beginning oh September because none of the anti-depressants I was on were working. Despite my blood levels going up I feel worse than ever. Does anyone else have experience of Lithium good or bad?

it depends what the Lithium is being used for. it can help with depression, but it is mainly used for Bipolar Schizophrenia. With most medications, a period of time has to be given to be able to tell whether its going to work. But if its making you feel bad, def tell your doc

Lie with any medicine it depends on the individuals themselves. What works for one might not work for another and so on.

they put me on lithium years ago. made me zone out and then feel shaky. had to go every month to get my blood checked because the dr said my lithium level could not go high. for 3 months I went and for 3 months my level was high. had to be taken off of it
