Sertraline And Alcohol?

A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

This might sound a bit odd. So i dont normally drink often. But after a ruff week I fancy a drink. Some advice says its okay in moderation others says don't drink. Has anyone got any experience?

I used to take sertraline and I was borderline alcoholic. I had panic attacks.. alcohol is a depressant do you have to be careful. I think it's fine if you drink every now and again but don't drink to get drunk.

I made the mistake of drinking whilst on this medication and it was bad I wasn't myself I got drunk very quickly and it messed me up quite badly. I wouldn't recommend drinking whilst on them tbh.

I don't touch alcohol since on these meds. Could have bad side effects.

She's not had any alcohol since February 28th. She's doing very well. She says she doesn't even think about it anymore but I think she would take a drink if she knew it wouldn't hurt her. You don't just lose cravings like she had she would get up drinking at 4am and be shitfaced by 10. She did that for about 5 years but she ruined her body in the process
