This is kind of a personal question but I can’t think of a better, non judgemental place to ask it so here goes.. I am realizing that I’m in perimenopause and I’ve noticed that although my depression and anxiety have always been bad it’s so much worse now and my meds have been adjusted.. I see a gyno the middle of Feb. so it’ll be confirmed then but I’ve done tons of research and I’m certain that’s what’s going on.. I am just wondering if anybody has had a similiar experience, did menopause… read more

Yes menopause can cause severe anxiety and depression . I had a prophylactic hysterectomy after my son was born as my mom died of ovarian cancer and I was positive for the same gene . It was a chemical castrations . I went completely over the edge and no meds helped and cuz I was already at cancer risk I cud nit go in HRT . It was one of the worst times of my life and I had a 2 year old baby as well . I think u hv gotten the same answers from us all . Yes menopause a chemical imbalance just affects our mental illness more . I hope your gyno can help you . Cathy

Im just started menopause. It played hell on my insomnia. My mood has been okay though. I heard that if you want to take something for it Estroven is the best on the market according to my gyno. They have one that helps w stress that might help your anxiety a bit. Hope all goes well at your visit. Keep me posted. Bye for now

I think your hormones mess all sorts of things up. I went through menopause and all sorts of things revved up. My depression, my anxiety, both went totally haywire. Check with your doc, if you have a therapist let them know as well. Meds might just need a tweek or so.
