Does Meditation Help You Manage Your Depression And/or Anxiety And If So How So? Thank You! . . Cool Cat . .
Meditation helps me! I often overthink, and it makes me slow down for a while. I've learned so much about myself just by listening to my body too!
It helps me when I have anxiety attacks. The breathing helps to calm me down sometimes
I love the Calm app. Listen to relaxing music and meditation.
Yes it can help depression and anxiety because in meditation you are awake and open to the present. Whatever is. You are not ruminating about the past or worrying about tomorrow. When your mind wanders from now, focus on something at hand like your breathing. In, out, in, out slowly. This is the present. Treat your wandering mind like an errand puppy and slowly being your attention back to your breathing. You can also center yourself in the moment by finding three things you can feel, see, hear, taste in your current setting. It brings you to now.
Our inner voice says all sorts of random weird crap. Don't try to force it away. Sit with it. Those are just thoughts they have no real meaning or standing. They come and go. I don't have to let them take hold of me. Just watch them. Name them. There's that same old thought about how unworthy I am. I've heard that thought before. It comes and goes. But I don't have to latch on and give it substance.
For me, meditation is key to slowing down
