How Do U Get Over A Death Of A Parent When U Have Depression
My mom died in 2008. I still haven't gotten 'over it'. I think you just learn to live with the hurt and the loss and the emptiness, but you will never get over it and I think the same can be said for people without depression. Losing a parent is traumatic and we don't really get over trauma, right? You just learn to live with it.
@A MyDepressionTeam Member as for me I still haven't gotten over the Death of my Mom, she passed away 7 yrs ago (soon it'll be 8 yrs in January 2024), each day it gets harder & harder, but I just take one day @ a time
Allow yourself to feel the feelings of grief; no-one can tell you how long to grieve; if you have dark thoughts or thoughts of giving up, then seek counseling.
You learn how to carry your grief with you through life. Some days you will feel it more than others. I do not believe we ever get over any loss. We just adjust to the load in time.
I don't think you ever get over it. I think you learn to live with the pain. I hope things get better for you. Give it time hopefully you will feel a little better.
