988?
I just got recent diagnose from actual psychiatrist and not just a therapist with major depressive disorder - severe, and generalized anxiety disorder. I still see my therapist even though my psychiatrist diagnose me. But, therapist tell me to call 988 if I ever feel suicidal and I feel I need to act on it. If I do that, what happens if they can't calm me down? I'm guessing they don't give me permission to do it, but do they call the police? If they call the police, what do they do?
Granny, thanks for your advice. Thankfully I have close to 100 hours of PTO stored up.

So if the police come and they make me go to the hospital and the hospital forces me to stay there, my employer or any future employer wouldn't see it on my background check? Even though I had an encounter with the police? (Them coming to my place to force me to go to the hospital)
If it appears on your background check, they have to protect you HIPPA rights. You don't have to divulge anything medical (and mental health is considered medical) to your employer. They CAN let you go because of your attendance, unless you use FMLA.
So if they make me go to the hospital, what happens then? Is that the 72 hour hold thing that I've heard about? And does that go on your background check and can I lose my job if I work in insurance?
