Has Anyone Else Had A Hard Time While Your Favorite Doctor Was Away On Vacation?
I don't have an appt. coming up soon, but I'm counting the hours until he's back in the office. I'd feel more secure knowing he's back in town.
My doctor has a fantastic nurse practitioner that helps when he is away or unavailable. There is also another doctor that works in the same office that is terrific. I'm very lucky in that regard.
@A MyDepressionTeam Member,
It was nice to have my primary doctor's nurse call me out of concern. We talked for over a 1/2 hr. She then set up an intake for a PHP ( partial hospitalization program). I'm so lucky to be patient of Dr. Plofsky and his staff.
Unfortunately, yes. My Primary Care Physician was on vacation and my prescription for Paroxetene expired. My family unit, which does not understand mental health issues, accused me of alcoholism when I was simply dealing with depression (we know there's nothing "simple" about depression). After emotional bouts with my family (and problems at work!), I went to "MyChart" to ask my doctor to re-instate the Paroxetene, who granted a renewal to the prescription. The solution for me was to be persistent with my primary care physician that I need this medication to do well with family and work, a constant source of pressure that adds to depression. I hope this answer helps!
Yes I hate when my doctor would be gone. But the sad thing is my doctor went to another job for a university so I lost her and now I have to see someone different hoping thhey will understand me and my feelings. At least the new one I'll be seeing is one I have seen a couple times when my doctor has been busy or out.
My doc is barely present while in town, so him being out of town is not consequential
