The good book( Bible) says....come to yee who Labour and are heavily burden and I will give you rest. This signifies we who are burdened by the understanding of scriptures should come to Him (God) in humility of prayer and He will give us rest over the understanding of His Word. (He who lacks wisdom should ask for He gives freely without reproach)

@Allison27 The way I understand you is that when you can relate to something in the Bible, that you get down on yourself and wonder if it's because of your depression. I think the answer is yes and no! Yes if you constantly beat yourself up because of the words you read; no if you take the words to heart and make appropriate changes to yourself. If you are a Christian, Jesus' commandments are to love one another and to love God. The old testament is the history of the Jewish nation leading to the birth of the Messiah. As part of a congregation, you are the hands and feet of Jesus, and you need to follow his commandments. You cannot be perfect and your imperfections are covered. Andy is correct; you only need to please God.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member don’t try to live up to anyone here on earth because we only have God to live up to while waiting until the end time. The ones at church are supposed to be there for the very same reason as you and should be to learn God’s word and worship Him but as we all know that isn’t the truth though that is for them to face in the end.
Hugs and live life the way God is leading you.

I think everyone who studies the Bible and tries to apply it to their lives has issues completely understanding it all. Paul said we see through a dim mirror. Read and be patient and take solace in what you do underatand. Try the YouVersion Bible app. It has so many things on it to foster understanding and application. God bless you in your journey.

Some people can believe in invisible helpers and some can't. If God would visit once in a while it would help us so much more than no visits at all. As for Jesus; he visited planet Earth and we tortured him and we crucified him. He hasn't been back since. A very wise being. (And I for one still pray to him) Go figure. 😀
