What Are Psychotic Features? What Should I Aspect?
I was diagnosed with PTSD with Psychotic features.
@A MyDepressionTeam Member If you google psychosis I believe you'll get the standard definition. Just checked yes when you can't tell the difference between reality and non reality. Hallucinations are common. I can tell you it is *the worst* worse than being depressed(even severely) or being manic. Once you experience it - you are never the same. Mercifully there are medications that get rid of the psychosis. Or the psychosis runs it's course. I can emphasize enough it is *the worst* If you have any specific questions let me know.
I was diagnosed with depression with psychotic symptoms, and what I was experiencing before getting diagnosed was the following: paranoia- was afraid of the dark and to be around doors that could go outside, had to have someone walk with me and beside me if I was outside.
Intrusive thoughts- thought someone was going to rob my house every night, I couldn’t rest without checking the doors multiple times and making sure a weapon of my choice was close to me, I was afraid of waking up with someone in my house. (My house and my neighbors house has never been robbed the entire 7 years I’ve lived here).. I would see my cat in places that she really wasn’t, so I was having small hallucinations. It was getting hard to tell what was real, like from this reality and what was from my reality my mind made up.
Thank goodness I no longer have psychotic symptoms with my depression, I just have depression.
But depression with psychotic symptoms in short it’s similar to schizophrenia and psychosis.
@A MyDepressionTeam Member Bipolar 1 has it as well
