When I'm at my very lowest, there's a particular sad one I listen to repeatedly until I'm so wasted that I fall asleep. Sometimes I have to listen to it days on end until the grief or depression passes. One day I realize I haven't listened to it, and I know the worst is over-- I've come through... again.

Ironically, I can't listen to it otherwise. It throws me right back into the hole.

Sad music helps me deal with stuff that I’d otherwise resort to bad things like self harm. Sad music is an outlet for built up emotions.

I used to be really triggered by it. When I was shutdown and didn't let my feelings show. Now I'm good.

While more upbeat music may help I see a therapeutic effect from sometimes just listening to music that feeds us the words we need to hear and cry it out.
