Has Anybody Made Mistakes You're Not Proud Of Because Of Your Illness?
Overspending, bouncing checks, doing things you know you shouldn't do, drinking, drugs, and the list goes on.
YES!!! But guilt is a wasted emotion. Just try and accept the fact that you weren,t well and it wasn,t the real you. Life is a journey and we all go through it differently. It says a lot that you were brave enough to ask the question and I am equally honest in saying I have had similar experiences. Try to do the best you can on the day' the past is in the past and all we can do is learn from it and try not to repeat the same mistakes. You are human' we all make mistakes this is how we learn. No one is perfect but you are a beautiful human being!!!
@A MyDepressionTeam Member I've got one friend who has stuck by my side through my drinking years and knows everything about me. She is what a true friend is. I thank God for her every day.
I don't think there's a depressive alive who can say they haven't done something bad or embarrassing. I've been through the whole financial thing, and that's bad ... it's a high price to pay. I've also gotten really drunk and felt exceptionally guilty for days/weeks afterward, especially if you involve other people and they never forget it, or they've judged you ever since.
I'm doing better with my spending. I'm lucky that all my bills are from places in the town that I live. The day I get my check (automatic deposit). I go pay all of my bills. I'm broke by the time I get home, but at least the bills are paid.
Yes several, I'm only now ending my court punishment for some of my behaviors. I've worked very hard and am much better about taking care of my bills and no longer wasting my money. I've found 2-3 side hustles to gain some extra cash income so I'm not feeling broke all the time. Which makes me more depressed.
