Official Diagnosis
I have been told I'm bipolar, boarderline personality disorder, and manic depressive. This had not been officially diagnosed. Where do I go to get diagnosed? How do I get on disability? I've managed it to this point while working but I don't know how much longer I can do this.
I live in Canada and receive disability due to mental illness. I went to the emergency during an episode and was seen by a Psychiatrist. Was assessed and diagnosed with Bi-polar, started on meds. I applied for benefits, it took a couple of months eventually I was approved. I am unable to work full time it's just too overwhelming for me, however I do work part time. When I'm having a really difficult time I call off sick, it doesn't have such an impact as when I worked full time for the employer they have lots of part time employees to cover the shift. My boss does not know, neither do my co workers you don't have to disclose that personal information unless you want to.
@A MyDepressionTeam Member is right. You need to see a psychiatrist for a diagnosis; they will assess you and then you can look for therapists to help you through the maze. I have bipolar and borderline personality disorder as well as general anxiety. I'm not sure how you would go about applying for disability in your part of the world, but the key is to get your diagnosis first and work from there.
I have ADHD, generalized anxiety disorder, and major depressive disorder. It sucks but I keep going. You should go to a psychiatrist or a doctor to get diagnosed
Is Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, SAD Or Am I On The Spectrum?
I Was Wondering, How Do You Get Diagnose? I Was Diagnose With Depression By My Family Doctor But I Think It's Worst Than That.
