I Am Thinking About Starting An Apprenticeship Course At My Local College (it's 2 Bus Rides Away). How Do You Keep Yourself Motivated?

A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been thinking about doing an apprenticeship course at my local college
It's a level 2 Adult Health, Social Care and Life Sciences apprentice course
I studied a GNVQ in Health and Social Care Foundation from September 1999 to around March 2000.
I have enquired about the course and I really want to apply for it, but I keep changing my mind as it feels like there's two little people in my head arguing about if I should or shouldn't apply for it.

Sometimes those of us who suffer from mental/emotional illness stepping outside our comfort zone. It brings growth, new experiences (making us more likely to step out of our comfort zones). It helps prevent our minds from going somewhere we don't want it to go. Goo luck with your decision.

Those “people arguing in your head” aren’t real. One of them is negative energy you produce and the other is positive energy that you produce, it simply means you are having a hard time making a decision and that is very true for many depressed people. Perhaps you were brought up to believe you weren’t smart and you would never be successful, so your negative energy keeps that thought alive even while your positive energy is trying very hard to move you forward. You have taken some similar course before and enjoyed it. And you are still thinking of this course every once in a while. I think you are letting the negative energy stop you from trying and possibly being very successful. You should apply for the course and wor hard at it. Don’t allow negative thoughts or energy tell you what to do. Let your positive energy encourage you to try. You will probably be very good at this profession

If your thinking about it go for it,dont have any regrets. I keep busy in my home and garden as I have a bit of OCD and everything else takes a back seat,I would be classed as a slave to my home but it makes me happy so thats all I care about.Eating out with a bottle of wine is my me time with my husband
